Aerobic Biological Treatment

The sewage or wastewater/effluent from industrial operations contains organic impurities. Thus sewage or industrial wastewater cannot be directly discharged to the environment. The organic impurities present will consume dissolved oxygen from the receiving bodies and make the receiving body unsafe for drinking use and survival of aquatic life. For the safe discharge of sewage/industrial wastewater to the environment or receiving body, it is very much essential to treat the sewage/industrial wastewater.

For treating sewage/industrial effluent for their organic impurities generally, aerobic biological treatment is used. The major process used worldwide is the activated sludge process. It is an aerobic biological process that utilizes microorganisms such as bacteria, and protozoa for the decomposition of organic matter. This process has been named so since it involves the production of an activated mass of microorganisms which effectively stabilize the organic content of wastes in presence of oxygen and convert them to carbon dioxide and water which are safe to be disposed of in the environment. This is effectively achieved by a series of metabolic reactions carried out by the microorganisms.

Chokhavatia Associates have designed, put up, and operated activated sludge plants for sewage and industrial waste. There are 450 + full-scale activated sludge plant installations from a flow of 50 cu.m per day to a flow of 66000 cu.m per day with an inlet COD ranging from 500 mg/l to 40000 mg/l. The design experience is backed up by the day-to-day operational experience which has given Chokhavatia Associates in-depth exposure to behavior and operational kinetics of aerobic biological treatment. Based on process and production plant needs and flexibility, we offer tailor-made Activated Sludge Plants.

We optimize various types of activated sludge processes like conventional, completely mixed, plug flow, tapered aeration, modified aeration, and contact stabilization into one tank depending on the inlet variables in quantity and quality to save the energy cost as well as ease in operation. We optimize the variables such as mixing regime, loading parameter, and flow schemeWe also conduct a quantitative kinetic study during day to day operation to determine the kinetic constants of the biological process in a particular industrial waste. The result obtained provides us with the means to optimize the design of the activated sludge plants. Once we arrive at a design plan we confirm its performance by conducting a series of tests.

Chokhavatia Associates are pioneers in designing the Water Treatment Plants for different types of wastewater generating effluents and its applications. We have successfully designed and commissioned Activated sludge Plants for various industries like sugar, soap, solvent and oil extraction industries, edible oil refineries, food, dairy, soft drink bottling, breweries, starch, pesticides, and bulk drug pharmaceutical industries chemical and mining industries, etc besides Sewage Treatment Plants and common industrial wastewater treatment plants. In addition to the regular services, we also provide the customers with a thorough, simple protocol to ensure that the aerobic biological treatment will remain efficient and stable in all conditions.

Our team includes a group of highly experienced and skilled professionals who are extremely dedicated to designing the treatment process with the latest and appropriate technologies as well as a team of professionals undertaking day-to-day treatment plant operation and supervision. Our infrastructure includes a well-equipped laboratory where we determine the procedures required to treat a wide variety of effluents. We customize the treatment plants to our client’s requirements and also optimize the treatment procedures employed. Our designed aerobic biological treatment plants are put up for long service use, technically proven, economically viable to operate, and having maximum compliance with respect to the norms of regulatory authorities.
