Enva is a leading provider of soil treatment and site decontamination services in Ireland, currently handling approximately 200,000 tonnes per annum of hazardous and non-hazardous contaminated soils from construction projects and emergency clean-up incidents across the island.
In 2019 Enva invested €1.5 million in a new soil washing plant and water treatment system at its main soil treatment facility in Portlaoise. The first and only of its kind in Ireland, the washplant combines water immersion with mechanical processing to separate contaminated soils and other suitable feedstocks into different particle size fractions. The treatment facility currently processes approx. 50,000 tonnes per annum.
The new washplant allows Enva to:
- Sustainably recover valuable washed aggregate fractions (sand, grit, stone) for re-use in construction, promoting the circular economy and reducing the quarrying of virgin products
- Avoid the unsustainable landfilling of contaminated soils
- Reduce the unsustainable export of Hazardous and Non-Hazardous soils out of Ireland for treatment or landfilling in mainland Europe
- Offer a secure, local, and cost-effective soil recovery solution for our large construction and municipal customers.
Enva’s in-house team of expert scientists and engineers delivered the treatment system design, including the development of an innovative Electro-coagulation system for heavy metal and PAH removal from contaminated wash waters.
Our customers are increasingly looking for innovative and long-term sustainable recovery solutions. Enva is uniquely positioned to partner with our customers to improve their environmental KPI’s and achieve their sustainability goals whilst ensuring the best price and compliance is not compromised.
