Oil spill absorbents are pads and booms that can be quickly deployed for spill response. They work by picking up and retaining the oil. The used absorbents can be safely burned on-site in the Elastec SmartAsh® cyclonic barrel burner. For small spills, absorbents may be used as the sole cleanup method, while for larger spills, they may be used to clean up residual oil that can not be reached by skimmers. Elastec offers several types of oil spill absorbents. We can also provide custom clean up response kits.
Absorbent Pads
These are versatile, cost-effective, and an environmental winner. The pads are constructed from a single layer of extremely fine, American-grown natural fibers and can absorb up to 25% more oil and oil-based liquids than comparable polypropylene sorbents. They are treated with a proprietary blend of additives to maximize water repulsion, flame resistance, and protection against molds and other microbes.
Oil Absorbent Boom
The oil absorbent boom is used to absorb and contain oil. A strong mesh outer sleeve encases a poly sock skin filled with a highly-sorbent poly blend. Booms won’t shed or sink, even when saturated with oil.
Absorbent Folded Sweep
Folded sweeps float on water to absorb oily spills and even surface sheen. A sturdy nylon strap attaches durable Oil-Only Multi-Laminate Mat to your sorbent boom for a complete waterborne cleanup. Heavy oils adhere, while water is repelled, so the sweep won’t become weighed down and capacity won’t be wasted. This means you can leave it in place longer for maximum effectiveness.
Oil Spill Absorbent Pillows
Oil spill absorbent pillows are easy to place in hard-to-reach areas. They are great for under machines and leaky hydraulic hoses or wedge in corners cramped for space. Absorbent Pillows pull liquids from the floor like a sock, catch leaks like a pan, and absorb spills like a pad. It’s one versatile product that works for many different jobs.
Oil Absorbent PomPoms
PomPoms float on the water’s surface to absorb oily spills and even surface sheen. Thousands of thin strands of polypropylene are joined together to create this high surface area sorbent. Heavy oils adhere to the PomPoms, while water is repelled, so they won’t become weighed down or capacity won’t be wasted. This means you can leave them in place longer for maximum effectiveness.
Creek Oil Spill Kit
The ELASTEC Creek Spill Kit is a turnkey package for rapid containment in a small waterway. The all-weather cover doubles as a holding tank for the collected products. The crate features a convertible frame to allow easy access for loading and unloading equipment. The Creek Spill Kit includes the crate, ELASTEC SuperStream containment boom, two ELASTEC Terra Twist anchors, yellow polypropylene rope, and absorbent booms and pads. This kit pairs well with the ELASTEC 12v Mini Skimmer (not included.)
